Chobe National Park is one of the world's last remaining true wildernesses and one of Africa's greatest game parks. Aside from being the largest park in Botswana, it is among the finest wildllife areas in Africa. Most of the game viewing takes place along the riverfront either by boat or vehicle and hugh concentrations of buffalo and elephant in particular may be seen. Botswana has one of the highest elephant populations, estimated at around 79,000, and many of these make use of the Chobe National Park and its riverfront. |

Chobe is synonymous with big game, and in particular, elephants. Along the riverfront you will find Africa's largest remaining elephant populations. As we watch from our riverboat, this elephant herd emerges from the treeline and make their way to the water. These elephants are very tolerant and we can approach very close and watch as they take their time drinking, bathing and interacting at leisure.

There are elephants wherever you look along the Chobe river. Occasionally, we find one all by himself enjoying a leisurely bath in the water.

From time to time the elephants scuffle and shove at each other. | A lone elephant bull feeds alongside the river as the sun sets.

A bull elephant looms over us but continues to move quietly through the bush. Elephants were not the only wildlife seen during our stay in Chobe. Many creatures abound in this watery wilderness and we were able to view a marvellous array of animals and birdlife! |
